ODI Design Decisions
Oracle Data Integrator 12c is out and, as part of the Oracle Data Integration suite, it delivers high-performance data movement and transformation among enterprise platforms with its open and integrated E-LT architecture

The latest ODI 12c version works in conjunction with Oracle Golden Gate, the Oracle’s database replication tool, in order to provide near real-time data replication to the analytical applications.

Cintra Software and Services, an Oracle platinum partner, with several Oracle Data Integrator deployments and years of experience in Data Warehouse projects, has created a set of ODI 12C best practices.

TOPOLOGY

  • Use Correctly Topology and Contexts can provide a powerful feature for running your design-time or run-time artifacts in various environments.
  • Logical/Physical architecture mapping in a given context.

DESIGN

  • To leave the context selection boxes unselected. There are few use cases where the context needs to be forced.
  • To avoid coding the transformations and data movements within procedures – use interfaces instead.
  • To start setting up the project folders in early stages provides to provide the correct project organization.

DATA QUALITY

  • Enforce the data quality of source data using checks as well as the quality of the data before it is pushed into a target via flow checks
